Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti got his Chelsea career off to a great start, bringing silverware to the club, in the form of the Community Shield, just one competitive match in to his reign.

Not only that, the Wembley win sent out a clear signal of the Italian's ambitions, as they beat Barclays Premier League title rivals Manchester United on penalties in the August 2009 victory. The Blues then made a great start to their 2009/10 Barclays Premier League campaign, winning their first six matches before ultimately losing to Wigan in September. Even with that minor set-back, Ancelotti's side continued to prove their title credentials over the first half of the season, establishing a strong position in the race for the league title

Prior to his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Ancelotti enjoyed tremendous success with Italian side AC Milan. He joined the San Siro outfit in 2001 and by the end of the 2002-03 season, had won the Coppa Italia and the Champions League. The next season, he added to Milan's trophy cabinet further still, winning Serie A and the Super Cup.

In 2004 he won the Italian Supercup with Milan, before coming up against the Premier League's Liverpool in the dramatic 2005 Champions League final, where Milan spectacularly crumbled after letting a 3-0 half-time lead slip before losing on penalties to the Anfield side.

Enjoyed Success

Two years later, Ancelotti and Milan once again got to the final of the Champions League, and once again played Liverpool.

This time however, they enjoyed success, with Ancelotti claiming his second Champions League win since his arrival as Milan manager. That success was quickly compounded as Milan went on to win the Super Cup and the Club World Cup in 2007. Ancelotti began his managerial career with Reggiana in 1995, where he masterminded their promotion to Serie A after just one year at the club.

He then returned to Parma, with whom he made 55 appearances back in his days as a player, before quickly moving on to Juventus where he won the Intertoto Cup in 1999.

As a player, Ancelotti played in midfield for Parma, Roma and AC Millan, where he won two European Cups and two Scudettos in a five year stint. He was capped 26 times for Italy, taking part in both the 1986 and 1990 World Cups. by premierleague
